Feltzen South - Barn
The barn became the spiritual core with expansive volumes of space and multi-levelled function areas. Former door openings were glazed allowing views from the house and courtyard to the water beyond. A square office/service ‘core’ was built at a 45 degree angle to the existing barn and is half in and half outside the existing structure. The interior of this core is clad in the former exterior metal skin, which had been applied haphazardly over original shingles. All new construction including stairs and railings are in contrasting steel. A new insulated exterior weather shell was installed on the exterior of the existing structure allowing all original framing and sheathing to be retained.
